What an awesome summer at Good Shepherd Daycare. The classrooms have been buzzing with activities, walks, field trips, and daily fun. Last month out program had the Environmental Rating Scale completed in three environments by a State Assessor: Infant Room, Preschool III, and School Age Program. This Rating Scale needs to be completed every few years to ensure high quality of care of kids, within the Keystone STARS program. The scale is rated from a 1-7 and a STAR 4 program must have an overall score of 5.0. Our overall scores have just been received and we scored a 5.73. What an awesome accomplishment for our staff.
Our school age friends are soon heading back to school and many children will be transitioning within the building. On September 6, 2018 we will offer an Open House for our parents. The purpose of our Open House is give families an opportunity to explore all of the programs we offer. We have classrooms on all three levels and often times families only understand one level of the building at a time. As these transitions occur, it is good for them to learn about our entire program and how it works.
Lastly, our staff are excited about this upcoming school year because of our Positive Behavior Initiative Supports (PBIS). Our building expectations are Be Safe and Be Kind. It is the job of the staff to teach those expectations not only to the children but to the parents as well. The staff have begun creating lessons for the children around these social/emotional skills that all children need to learn to be successful in life.
